First off, thanks to Peter over on PHPEverywhere for pointing out the info and link that they have to the Zend Engine 2.0 Design Document (pdf). This is a brief summary of the newest verison of the Zend Engine and what we think are the most important features which will not only lead to a great improvement in the Zend Engine but that will also retain the language spirit of today's scripting language.
Well, the new kid on the block is knocking the socks off of PHPNuke - PHPSlice is a portal system similar to PHPNuke, only faster. Don't believe me? Check out these benchmarks done by GeekLog. If this really is a Nuke-killer, it might be nice to have something good for newbies that works well.
Also today, DevShed has a new article that talks about creating a resume/job management system with PHP and MySQL for your Human Resources department. It's nice to see an article that's not just something simple come out of DevShed - this one can give you plenty if room to work and to develop a great system for your company.
