Man, I should just give him his own access to the news system here - anyway, Arts is back with several more O'Reilly links this morning. The first is a neat little article on the cutting edge that talks about getting PHP working on Mac OSX. There are only a few things that need to be done differently, and they suggest some good settings to make it work its best with OSX. Also from O'Reilly comes something I see people asking for all the time. "Does PHP have any kind of encryption?" Well, the answer is yes, but you have to compile it in. The article deals with the crypt function and how useful it can be in a lot of situations. They go over some good basics here, including how to salt the function and how to use it wisely.
