Well, I was a bit lax over the weekend and I let the news pile up a bit - so here it all is from this past weekend:
First off, quamper sent in a link to a Linux.com comparison of PHPNuke 5.01 to PostNuke 0.61 They compare everything from documentation, user interface, multi-language support, and liscensing. Looks like the verdict on this one is PostNuke, but read it for yourself.
There's also a new tutorial over on the NewbieNetwork site that talks about a simple way to create next and previous buttons for the content on your site. It's a good read, and useful for those with pages and pages of content they need a bit more organized.
And, lastly, we have two smaller notes, the first from quamper again. He sent in a link to another codeRed script, called codeRedKilller that seems a bit more "humane" than the other scripts of this type. Now, that the codeRed attacks are over (crosses fingers), I don't know how much use this script will get, but it's still fun to look at. And, the second small note is more of a comment made by Peter. He wonders "just how random random really is" in PHP. Now I assumed that because I had 100 numbers, it would be on average 50 numbers before I got a duplicate. Not so! If I get above 25 then I am extremely lucky. I can't spot any mistake n the code, so I have to assume that random numbers aren't quite as random as I thought. Anyone have any ideas on this, or maybe he's not seeding it correctly? I set up a forum topic just for this - I think it's worth a good look at some different techniques. So, get over there and post!
