PHP and SOAP, Zend, PHP Security, and Site News

PHPEverywhere has a little piece about SOAP with PHP and some of the story behind/about it. If you don't know, SOAP is a method for transfering infromation between servers/websites that allows for structure and a bit of formatting. A lot of this is done with XML these days too.

Over on Zend this morning, they have an excerpt from the book Build Your Own Database Driven Website Using PHP & MySQL. There's nothing overly remarkible here, but it would make a nice reference for beginners. So, if you're new to the PHP world, look into this book and see what you think.

Thanks to arts this morning for an article that should be on every PHP developer's "must read" list. The Security of PHP is a nice article that details several of the potential risks that are involved with things like external programs, environment variables, and includes. Trust me, read this - you'll be wiser for it (and maybe even thwart a weenie or two along the way).

Also, for those out there that want a little sneak peak at what's to come around here, take a look at the logo that we've developed for the new site. There's not much there yet, but look at test.phpdeveloper.org and see what you think. And, as always, if you'd like to help out around here, please let me know.
