Freelancing Tips and Tricks from SitePoint
Sep 27, 2002 @ 12:45:49

Everyone out there dreams of being a freelance worker (c'mon, you know you want to) and working on your own terms, getting your own clients, and making your own money. Well, once you're out in the world, programming and creating sites right and left for a multitude of clients, how can you be sure that there'll be more when you're ready? How can you be sure to get that "next contract" when they come for the meeting?

SitePoint may have the answer to that question - in their latest article, 10 Steps to Your Next Freelance Client. In this article, they cover 10 things that you can do to make sure that that next meeting with potential clients is a good one. Most of these things are easy for the seasoned web professional, things like "have a business card handy" and "question your client" are common practices in many businesses.

My favorite quote: "Here's where you really get to wow the client. You call her at 10am on Thursday and say something like "Mary, because you require the quote so urgently we've burnt the midnight oil..." (when was the last time someone actually used the term "midnight oil" - heh)
