PHP Interview With Ivo Jansch Founder & CEO of Mobile Technology Egeniq
Feb 06, 2012 @ 14:47:43

7php.com has posted a new interview with a PHP community member today - this time it's Ivo Jansch (formerly of Ibuildings) now CEO at Eginiq, a mobile development company.

In this edition I talked with Ivo Jansch (@ijansch) ex-CTO of Ibuildings which is one of the biggest PHP service companies in Europe. Ivo is known for his involvement in evangelising the use of PHP technology in enterprise environments. He is also the PHP 5.x Certification Advisory Board Member at Zend Technologies. You can read more about Jansch on his blog.

The questions asked include the usual with a few extras thrown in:

  • How did you start with PHP?
  • To someone who wants to become a better PHP developer, what is your advice?
  • How do you debug your PHP code, do you use something like xdebug or krumo..etc?
  • In the next 5 years, how do you foresee the PHP ecosystem
  • If you had to go back in time, would you still choose PHP?

James Atkinson (Founder of phpBB) Officially Steps Down
May 04, 2007 @ 21:15:00

According to this new post in the phpBB forums, James Atkinson, the founder of the phpBB project has formally stepped down as of the 30th of April (2007) via an email set to the development team.

The now newly independent phpBB still has the same active contributors and will continue to support the stable phpBB 2.0.x and develop the next-generation phpBB 3.0.x, with James having already allowed the transfer of the www.phpBB.com domain for a majority share of the financial assets that have been generated by the project via advertising to date, so as to minimize disruption to phpBB's users.

Development of the software and community around it will still continue - the only thing that will change is the name working as a figurehead of the group.

Zend Developer Zone:
30 Minutes with Theo Schlossnagle
Sep 25, 2006 @ 13:03:20

On the Zend Developer Zone today, Cal Evans has another of his interviews with the speakers at various PHP conferences, this time, it's with Theo Schlossnagle of OmniTi.

This is another in a series of interviews I’ve been conducting as I travel to different conferences. Most of the people I get the chance to interview are directly involved with PHP in some way. This interview is a bit different. Theo Schlossnagle is the founder of OmniTI, one of the premier PHP consulting companies in the world. OmniTI consults with companies all around the globe on issues ranging from architecture to security.

Cal asks questions about the background of OmniTI, how they find/retain programmers, Messaging Systems, Theo's book, scaling in general, and some of his thoughts on what PHP still has to overcome.
