The candidate for this position needs to be well-versed in object oriented analysis and design, be intimately familiar with the PHP scripting language and associated libraries, understand and have experience with web security, and possess strong communication skills. The applicant should be comfortable interacting with business customers to determine software requirements and understand business strategies. The candidate must be a hands-on web application developer who can work well individually and as a team member.

Candidates local to the Houston area, or who are willing to relocate, are preferred.

Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to design, construct, and maintain object-oriented web systems using the PHP scripting language.
• An understanding of design-pattern principles, especially Model-View-Controller (or similar patterns)
• Proficiency with XML, XSD, and Schema
• Strong knowledge of (X)HTML, Javascript, and DOM
• Experience with AJAX and CSS is a plus
• Web service programming (SOAP and WSDL) is a plus
• Experience with MySQL database design and programming

Notes:

• Exposure to PHP frameworks (specifically, the Zend Framework)
• Exposure to Javascript frameworks (specifically, Prototype and script.aculo.us)
• Zend Certified Engineer certification is a plus
• Familiarity with other web-oriented languages such as Java, C#, or Ruby is a plus
