Community News: PHP Advent 2008
by Chris Cornutt December 02, 2008 @ 08:44:47
Its the holiday season and even the PHP community is getting into the spirit. Much like last year, >Chris Shiflett (joined this time by >Sean Coates) have created this year's PHP Advent calendar.
From Chris Shiflett's blog:
Is it December again already? I like good traditions, so with the help of Sean and many others, PHP Advent is back again, this time with its own domain. I would call it a web site, but that might be stretching the truth at the moment. Jon is going to help us out with a simple design in the very near future. The focus, of course, is the quality content from our gracious authors.
The December 1st post for this year is one by yours truely - You Need the PHP Community. For more great content as the month goes on, you can keep up either through their feed, on Twitter or just by heading over to the site each day.

by Chris Cornutt July 31, 2008 @ 16:58:14
If you didn't get a chance to be a part of the live P3 podcast that marked the end of Sean Coates' time with the php|architect crew, you can check out the audio of it in the latest show on the podcast feed.
This is a recording from the P3 Live! Video/podcast we recorded on Tuesday July 29, 2008. Over 50 people joined Paul, Beth and Sean to watch the video stream and listen live. We even managed to cover some news, and talk to some people.
Special thanks to Evan Prodromou from http://identi.ca and Terry Chay for taking our phone calls, and especially to everyone who joined us for the party.
You can either subscribe to their feed and get it automatically or you can grab the mp3 directly.

php|architect: P3 Podcast for May 1st, 2008 - The Twitter
by Chris Cornutt May 07, 2008 @ 08:44:39
Paul and Sean over at php|architect have released the latest episode of the P3 podcast for May 1st, 2008 - "The Twitter".
Still no resolution on the USB audio problem. iPod failed, too. That leaves us with 2 laptops and internal mics. I'm eagerly anticipating 10.5.3, and if that doesn't fix it, I'm going back to 10.5.1. Fail.
Topics mentions are php|tek (coming soon to a Chicago near you!), type hinting and the optimizer Google Summer of Code discussions on the Internals side and the "making WP themes from scratch" and Magento talk on the community side.
You can either pull their feed into your aggregator to get this and other great P3 episodes or you can just download the mp3 directly and enjoy.

Chris Shiflett's Blog: PHP Advent Calendar
by Chris Cornutt December 03, 2007 @ 08:45:00
Chris Shiflett has started up a PHP project for the holidays - a PHP Advent Calendar to share helpful hints and knowledge from members of the PHP community:
Welcome to the PHP Advent Calendar. If you are unfamiliar with the format of an Advent calendar, Wikipedia has a pretty good description. The PHP Advent Calendar is similar in spirit to the Perl Advent Calendar, a tradition the Perl community has sustained for several years.

You can also keep track of the latest ones on this calendar Sean has put together as well as on our list below:
