ZendCon 2006 Deck of Cards
November 02, 2006 @ 10:12:19

One of the great things about the PHP community is its sense of humor, and after the stir that Cal Evans caused with his PHP "Trading card" game from this year's OSCON, Zend decided to take it a step further and hand out a great freebie at this year's Zend/PHP Conference and Expo - a full deck of playing cards with the names and faces of different people and Zend products for each of the cards in each suit.

Cal has also been nice enough to post the full listing of the cards over on his Flickr account. The cards include:

The four queens - Sara Golemon, Laura Thomson, Dhwani Vahia, and Joyce Park
  • The two jokers - Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski
  • The four kings - Rasmus Lerdorf, Wez Furlong, Marcus Boerger, and Rob Richards
  • The aces - Zend Products: the Framework, Platform, the Certification, and Zend Studio

OSCON Wrapup The Party's Over
July 31, 2006 @ 18:25:04

Wrapping up his, well, wrap-ups of this year's OSCON in Oregon, Cal Evans has this final installment - a look at the final day and the aftermath.

The goddess' of the O'Reilly Conference Team have yelled "cut" the set is struck and everybody has gone home. Speakers are busily reviewing the evaluation forms and tuning their presentations for the next round and the attendees are sorting through the T-Shirts. (Keepers or dust-rags) Let's glance over our shoulder at what was OSCON06.

He points out a link to the Flickr feed of his pictures from the conference - including pictures of his (now infamous) "PHP trading cards" (which he includes links to the Word documents of).

Cal talks about getting to Rasmus and George Schlossnagle's talks about enjoying the "PHP Lightning Talks" quite a bit. There's mention of the conference all, laid out in all of its corporate splendor and his note about a relatively glitch-free conference.

Study PHP with phpflashcards.com
February 01, 2006 @ 07:38:50

Via this post on Digg.com, there's a "PHP Flash Card" application that someone's created using a bit of Ajax to make it all work.

Here's a simple site I created for helping PHP programmers old and new study for certification exams or to simply hone their skills. It has wiki-like features so that users can submit and edit questions and answers.

The site offers a pretty simple interface, but it works that way - too much more and it wouldn't be as attractive. So, head on over and test out your PHP knowledge and maybe even submit some questions of your own...
