PHP Appalachia Wrap-Up
Oct 02, 2006 @ 13:03:58

Elizabeth Naramore has posted a wrapup of this year's PHP Appalachia (un)conference held in North Carolina, including some pictures.

3+ days of collaboration, exchanging information, hiking, building campfires, and basically getting silly is now on my "highly recommended things to do before you die" list. Not only does a gathering like this provide you with an outlet to expand and share your knowledge on a professional level, it gives you an opportunity to relax with like-minded people and just plain have a good time.

Twelve developers made their way out this year for three days of hiking, talks, and just enjoying the camaraderie of being with fellow developers. She also mentions a few other topics that were talked about, spur of the moment (true to the form of the (un)conference).

OSCON Wrapup: The Party's Over
Jul 31, 2006 @ 23:25:04

Wrapping up his, well, wrap-ups of this year's OSCON in Oregon, Cal Evans has this final installment - a look at the final day and the aftermath.

The goddess' of the O'Reilly Conference Team have yelled "cut" the set is struck and everybody has gone home. Speakers are busily reviewing the evaluation forms and tuning their presentations for the next round and the attendees are sorting through the T-Shirts. (Keepers or dust-rags) Let's glance over our shoulder at what was OSCON06.

He points out a link to the Flickr feed of his pictures from the conference - including pictures of his (now infamous) "PHP trading cards" (which he includes links to the Word documents of).

Cal talks about getting to Rasmus and George Schlossnagle's talks about enjoying the "PHP Lightning Talks" quite a bit. There's mention of the conference all, laid out in all of its corporate splendor and his note about a relatively glitch-free conference.

PHP Quebec Recap
Apr 06, 2006 @ 19:33:03

The PHPQuebec Conference wrapped up last Friday, and several of the attendees have posted their own recaps, and today, Chris Shiflett is adding his experience to the list.

PHP Quebec was an educational and entertaining conference as expected. The PHP Quebec User Group does a great job organizing the conference each year.

My talk, Agile PHP Testing, was very well received. I think KISS might be the missing ingredient that we need to ignite a testing revolution in the PHP community. Most people who approached me after the talk appreciated the simplicity of using test-more.php with no testing framework at all. I think they also appreciated knowing that using TAP allows them to "upgrade" later.

Of course, he includes the slides for his presentation, but he also links to others' presentations including ones from Ilia Alshanetsky, Andrei Zmievski, and Rasmus Lerdorf. And, for a little slice of what the conference was like visuall, check out Chris' pictures.

PHP Conf Lon Live [1]
Feb 10, 2006 @ 13:04:48

Harry Fuecks is attending the PHP Conference UK and has posted this new item on the SitePoint PHP Blog with his thoughts so far.

So made it back to Britain and met up with the PHP London group last night as the warm up to todays conference.

All I can say is if you’re in London and not getting to the PHP London meetups, you’re missing out. Attendance varies but usually ten regulars on a low turn out up to 30 on a good night (like when Rasmus drops by).

He's also included a "live" blogging session, noting that the crowd bumped up to around 160 visitors and a mention of the talk that Derick Rethans is giving on the eZ components. There's some pictures included as well, including a shot of the (rather large) crowd.
