Pre-conference workshops at SymfonyLive London 2018 are almost sold out!
Sep 10, 2018 @ 18:29:31

On the Symfony blog there's a new post for those that have been putting off getting their tickets to SymfonyLive London and, more specifically, the pre-conference workshops. Time is limited and the training sessions are almost sold out!

All Symfony conferences come with pre-conference workshops. We organized them to enable the conference attendees to get trained on Symfony and its ecosystem just before the conference, during special workshops sessions at a very special price. The idea is to get the most out of the conference and enhance your Symfony skills before learning new tips and tricks from the speakers’ experience during the conference. We organize 4 different pre-conference workshops at SymfonyLive London 2018 on September 27th and they are almost all sold out!

They also share a listing of the pre-conference workshops happening at this year's event:

  • "Symfony 4 Best Practices" by Nicolas Grekas from Symfony
  • "Building API-driven apps with API Platform" by Kévin Dunglas from Les-Tilleuls.coop
  • "Symfony Messenger" by Samuel Rozé, creator of the component
  • "Lightning Fast Tests" by Jakub Zalas, Symfony core team member

Each workshop title in the post is a link to more information about the workshop and how to pick up your tickets. For more information about the conference, ticket pricing and to order yours, check out the main conference site.

ArtisanConf – A new Laravel Conference in London
Apr 20, 2015 @ 14:34:00

The Laravel News site has a post talking about a new Laravel-related conference happening in London on July 9th and 10th (at the Barbican): ArtisanConf, "the premier UK conference for Laravel and modern PHP enthusiasts. Up to 300 artisans will convene in the heart of London’s Tech City for two days of inspirational talks, engaging networking and amazing learning opportunities."

Jonty Behr is one of the organizers of ArtisanConf, and I asked him why he decided to start this new conference. “Laravel is incredibly popular in the UK, and a lot of developers have been requesting a UK based conference for a while. Although the guys at LaraconEU do an amazing job, not all developers in the UK are able to travel to Amsterdam and we hope to help, educate and build their experience within the community.”

The conference already has some amazing (and well known) speakers lined up. Plus they are hoping that there will be something for both beginners and the experienced at ArtisanConf. There will be two full days of talks and more details will be released soon.

You can already pick up tickets from the conference site or, if you'd like a chance at speaking, head over and submit to their Call for Papers.

Symfony 2014 Year in Review: London Symfony Meetups
Jan 06, 2015 @ 19:19:01

The Symfony blog has another in their "2014 Year in Review" series posted, this time with a focus on the London Symfony meetups and the presentations that were made.

2014 was a really successful year for the Symfony Meetup Group in London. I've been involved helping to organize these meetups for a few years now, but it was never a regular thing until this year. With a huge help of my SensioLabs UK colleagues we managed to bring the group to the next level. Each meetup we're getting around 60-90 attendees, which is a big improvement compared to the previous years. We also started recording the talks. Since the Symfony community in London is much bigger, I believe we can do even better in 2015!

Talks presented this year included:

  • Optimizing Your Front End Workflow
  • Applying Domain Driven Design with Symfony2 projects
  • Silex saved me from my legacy code
  • Scaling Symfony2 apps with RabbitMQ
  • Speed up your Symfony2 application and build awesome features with Redis

Each topic has a summary, a link to the slides and a video of the presentation (if available).
