Announcing php[cruise]… (Save the Date)
Jul 01, 2015 @ 16:23:07

php[architect], organizers for both the php[tek] and php[world] conferences has officially announced their latest event - php[cruise].

Well we’ve already actually announced it at php[tek] 2015, but it’s time to start sharing some information about it. Yes, we are going to revive php[cruise], and once again host a conference-cruise for the PHP community. This 7 day cruise will take place from July 17-23, 2016 and leave from the port of Baltimore.

We still have lots of details to work out – but wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of this early! We will be working on making this a family friendly experience. Daycare/kids activities are included in the cost and we are even looking at scheduling some ‘teach kids to code’ type events.

As mentioned, this new event will be happening in July of 2016 with a tour around the Baltimore, Maryland area for a full seven days. There's currently not a site up for the event, this is just a preliminary announcement for those that didn't hear from the closing remarks at php[tek] this year.

Brandon Savage's Blog:
New Rockville PHP Group
Feb 07, 2012 @ 15:44:07

If you're in the Montgomery County, Maryland area and are a PHP developer looking to reach out and meet others, you should check out this new post from Brandon Savage. He's trying to start up a user group in that area.

There are lots of active, vibrant developer groups in the DC area: DC PHP, Baltimore PHP, and the Frederick Web Tech group. The DC PHP Beverage Subgroup meets monthly in Northern Virginia. But in the middle between all these groups lies Montgomery County, Maryland. In that area live hundreds of developers who struggle to reach any of the developer groups in the area on a weeknight. It’s time to build them something of their own.

His focus is the Montgomery County area so as not to directly take away from any of the other groups in the area people already attend. If you're interested in a group in that area, leave him a comment or hit him up on Twitter.

Columbia PHP Meetup
Mar 01, 2007 @ 14:01:00

PHP developers around the Columbia, MD area looking for ways to connect with other developers in your area show check out the new user group Chris Shiflett has started up - the Columbia PHP Meetup.

I just created the Columbia PHP Meetup Group, something we have been wanting to do for a while. The inaugural meeting is going to be held at our headquarters on Mon, 05 Mar 2007.

The plan for the first meeting, according to Chris, is to give lightening talks on whatever subject the attendees decide on. Other OmniTI-ers might show as well (Wez Furlong, George Schlossnagle, etc).
