PHP Statistics for April 2008

Damien Seguy has released the latest PHP statistics for last month - April 2008. Among the highlights are things like:

  • PHP 5.2.5 is now the most popular PHP version, ahead of 4.4.8
  • PHP 5 reaches 36.60% of PHP market share
  • Still a lot of migrations toward 5.2.5 and 4.4.8

Damien Seguy has posted the latest statistics for PHP's usage for the month of March 2008. Here's some of the highlights:

  • There were no surprises, only data reinforcing already set trends
  • PHP 5 now make up over a third of all PHP installations to date
  • More installations moved up to PHP versions 5.2.5 and 4.4.8
  • Apache has almost reached 70% of the web server market share

To learn about methodology, read la section phpversion. 27.4 millions servers hosted on 2.4 millions IP were surveyed during September, and 11.4 were used for stats : domaines without web sites, those unreachable, ISP, shared hosters or domain parkings were not considered.

Here's the monthly highlights:

  • PHP 5 continue its steady progression : +1% to 23%
  • PHP 4 swan song ?
  • Apache grows to 68,59 %

PHP's overall adoption dipped down a bit this month, mostly due to the comination of many other smaller languages rising in popularity. All the while, though, PHP5 adoption is soaring, even gaining back ground it lost last month, and PHP 4.4 is growing more in popularity of the 4.x series versions, almost overtaking 4.3.
