The Sound of Symfony podcast, with hosts Magnus Nordlander and Tobias Nyholm, has released their latest episode today - Episode #15: Live from Barcelona.

In another of our conference specials, Tobias, Magnus and Ryan is live from Symfony Catalunya 2016 in Barcelona. We talk about the conference, and, trying make the most of being around some of the experts in the community, we talk to Marc Morera and Michael Cullum about building local PHP communities.

In a new post to his site Marc Morera talks about a new Symfony conference happening in Barcelona, Spain in July of 2016 - Symfony Catalunya.

Imagine yourself in front of the Barcelona’s beach in July. It sounds good, right? Then, continue imagining yourself with a great Symfony environment, with a very cold beer, amazing people and even better topics to talk about.

I’m very very pleased to tell you that this plan is going to happen this summer. The Symfony Barcelona Association is working very hard on this first edition of Symfony Catalunya, an international Symfony event placed in our city. This event is 100% in english and is going to be very focused on how Symfony can help us in our day by day and in our jobs.

He talks some about the conference too including the emphasis on new talks, amazing speakers, ticket pricing and the emphasis on community. If you're interested in the conference, want to see some of the current lineup or just want to get tickets, visit the main conference site at Symfony.cat.

Gonzalo Ayuso has posted a wrapup and the slides from his SOLID presentation at this year's deSymfony conference recently held in Barcelona, Spain.

Last saturday I attended to the deSymfony conference in Barcelona. A great opportunity to meet again with the PHP and Symfony community in Spain. This year the conference accepted my talk about SOLID and Symfony. Here you can see the slides of the talk (slides in spanish). [...] The conference was perfect. Barcelona is an incredible city and the conference place (10 minutes walking from the Sagrada Familia), was incredible too. Great talks. But the best, as always, the coffe breaks with the conversations with the Symfony and PHP community from Valencia, Zaragoza, Madrid, Barcelona, ...

His talk (in Spanish) covers some of the basics around the SOLID design principles including definitions of each piece and brief code snippets to illustrate. If you're interested in a bit more detail around the SOLID principles in PHP, check out the first four parts of a series over on NetTuts.com for each principle: Single Responsibility, Open/Closed, Liskov Substitution & Interface Segregation and Dependency Inversion principles.

Announcing the 2013 Spanish Symfony Conference

On the Symfony blog they've posted information about this year's deSymfony Conference - the Spanish Symfony Conference happening June 21st and 22nd in Madrid, Spain.

Around 400 Symfony developers from Spain, Italy and even America will attend to this two-day event that will hold more than 20 talks about our favorite framework. This year, the event will take place in Madrid, the dazzling and cosmopolitan capital of Spain. The ticket to attend both days is 55 euros for the early bird period (which is already over) and 75 euros for the regular ticket. You can still buy your ticket online at desymfony.com.

This year's event will have an unconference happening the day before the event that's free for anyone that wants to attend, no pass required. You can find out more about this and the conference in general (and pick up your tickets) on the deSymfony conference site.

The PHP Barcelona group are getting things ready for this year's PHP Barcelona 2010 conference happening at the end of October (the 29th and 20th) at the Citilab-Can Suris building:

Come to the Citilab to see Ilia Alshanetsky, Fabien Potencier, Stefan Priebsch, Lorenzo Alberton, Enrico Zimuel and many more open the hood and expose the secrets of PHP and PHP related technologies that make the Internet what it is today, and that power what the Internet will be tomorrow.
