Laraconf Brazil 2016
Oct 17, 2016 @ 16:53:12

On the Laravel News site there's a post that wraps up Laraconf Brazil 2016 with a quick summary for those that weren't able to attend.

The Laravel community in South America put together their first unofficial one day Laravel conference in Brazil on October 8th.

“What I most enjoyed was the ability to network with every attendee,” said Matheus Marabesi one of the organizers, “people around Brazil came to our conference, and it was amazing”.

The event featured ten talks from scaling applications to TDD, to career development. It was a nice mixture of things developers care about. They also, with the help of the sponsors, were able to record every talk and have it available in a YouTube playlist.

As the conference was in Brazil, the sessions aren't in English unfortunately. They included sessions covering: caching strategies, test-driven development, multi-tenant architecture and Elasticsearch. The post also includes several photos from the event and answers to a few other questions from organizer Matheus Marabesi.

SQL Server JumpIn! Camp Wrap Up
Jun 27, 2011 @ 17:28:18

Brian Swan (of Microsoft) has posted his wrapup of the recent Jump In! Camp they held around integration of SQL Server functionality into several popular PHP projects like the Zend Framework and PEAR.

During each day of the camp, PHP developers worked side-by-side with Microsoft developers to add SQL Server and SQL Azure support to their projects, but nearly everyone put in many extra hours late at night (and even early morning!) to add support for other Microsoft technologies (such as IIS, Web Platform Installer, and Windows Azure).

He includes some pictures taken of the progress board for the various projects and the wishlist that developers in attendance requested of the Microsoft team.

I can’t say thanks enough to all the participants for being 100% invested in the camp and for going the extra mile to investigate how their projects might be able to integrate Microsoft technologies beyond SQL Server and SQL Azure. I know that the entire SQL Server team echoes my thanks.

PHP London Conference: In Review
Mar 08, 2010 @ 14:26:45

For those not able to attend this year's PHP London Conference, you might check out a summary post Lorna Mitchell has recently added to her blog about her time there.

This year I had the privilege of speaking at this event [...] my talk was entitled "Best Practices in Web Service Design" although perhaps "Things I Wish Web Service Creators Would Consider Before Writing Unclear and Unstable Useless And Frustrating Services" would have been a better title.

This year's PHP London Conference was held on Friday, February 26th in London and had talks on regular expressions, mobile application development, cloud computing and database optimization. Check out the Joind.in page for the event to see comments left by those that attended.
