According to this new post on Christian Spanning's blog, there's been an updated version of MAMP released.

MAMP (Macintosh, Apache, Mysql and PHP) is an excelent environment if you're planning to do some PHP development on your Mac. As they state on the MAMP website, it should therefore not be used as Live Webserver for the Internet.

He is right: MAMP is a great way to set up a testing environment on a MAC. The installation could not be any easier, and the servers can be turned on or off with a click of a mouse. The files are all stored in one directory in your applications folder AND on a different port than the server that is pre-packaged with OS-X (as to avoid conflict).

A very well thought out, easy to use package.

MAMP is one of the sweetest things for the mac. I just hope they put in MySQL 5 at some point, and let you switch between 4.1 and 5. That would be hot.
