The Voices of the ElePHPant podcast, hosted by PHP community member Cal Evans, has posted a joint interview recorded at the ZendCon conference 2016 with guests Sara Golemon and Elizabeth Smith.
Cal, Sara and Elizabeth talk about SAPIs (Server Application Programming Interface) and how the core of the language uses it to work with the server it runs on (web server, command line, etc). With a bit of definition out of the way, they they start talking about the creation of custom and new SAPIs for PHP (and "middleware SAPIs"). Sara takes more of the side that no new SAPIs are really needed but Elizabeth offers opinions from the other side and how the "middleware" state layer could improve the language.
