James Titcumb Talks About Last PHP South Coast And Zend Framework

The CloudWays blog has posted another in their series of interviews with members of the PHP community. In their latest interview they talk with James Titcumb, an organizer of the PHP South Coast conference, Zend Framework developer and well-known community speaker.

Today we are honored to have James Titcumb for this interview. He is a PHP Consultant at Roave and an Organizer of the PHP South Coast Conference. He runs PHP Hampshire PHP user group. Additionally, He is the project lead for the Browser Capabilities and Better Reflection project.

In the interview James answers questions about:

The Voices of the ElePHPant podcast, hosted by PHP community member Cal Evans, has posted their latest interview with a member of the PHP community. In this latest show Cal talks with James Titcumb as recorded at php[tek] 2016.

Cal and James talk about his history as the first Nomad PHP lightning talk and his role as an organizer of the PHP Southcoast Conference. They also talk about why he and the other organizers put the conference on and how they involve other local user groups. They also talk about the topic James presented about not only at the php[tek] conference but previously in a lightning talk: RabbitMQ. They talk about some of the requirements for its use and some things to consider if you're thinking about adding it to your own stack.

The Voices of the ElePHPant has posted their latest episode, a wrap-up of the PHP South Coast, a conference that just wrapped up in the UK earlier in July.

Host Cal Evans talks with the organizers of the conference, Rich Sage, Dave Baker and James Titcumb, about why they started the conference and what they hope to provide. Cal also asks about the bad side of things, what was the worst thing that happened as a part of planning the event. He also asks them about the speaker selection and how they handled the rejection letter. To counter, he also asks them about what the best part about planning and putting on the event was. Finally he asks each of them about their local user groups, when and where they meet and what their format looks like.

On the 7PHP.com site today Khayrette Wasseem has posted the first in a series of "Know Thy PHP Conference" series, is time focusing on PHP South Coast, a conference happening in July (2015) in Portsmouth in the UK.

The post is an interview with James Titcumb, an organizer of the event, talking some about the conference, his experience getting it up and running and some of its goals. He asks questions about:

  • Some about James' background with the local user group
  • When the event started
  • Details about where it will be held
  • Some of the other people behind the event
  • How they're looking for sponsors for the event
