Episode 93: 40 Attendees Enter, None Leave
Sep 05, 2017 @ 16:04:33

The /Dev/Hell podcast, hosted by PHP community members Chris Hartjes and Ed Finkler, has posted their latest episode - Episode #93: 40 Attendees Enter, None Leave.

Chris has finally moved his vast grumpy empire to it’s new location, so it was time to record an episode and get their hands on that sweet, sweet Patreon money.

In this scintillating episode we talk about deliberate change in your life to achieve a new set of goals, along with upcoming conference appearances. Chris also reveals a dark secret about his new adopted home town and Ed mocks Chris for temporarily confusing two Lous.

You can listen to this latest episode either using the in-page audio player or by downloading the mp3 directly. If you enjoy the show, be sure to subscribe to their feed and follow them on Twitter to get updates when new shows are released.

Chuck Hagenbuch's Blog:
Transitions (Leaving Zend)
Aug 12, 2006 @ 23:52:16

Unfortunately, it seems that Zend has lost another developer - Chuck Hagenbuch (of the Horde Project) who worked in Zend's Professional Services team and contributed to the Zend Framework as detailed in a post on his blog.

Yes, I am leaving Zend. I felt that it was time for me to move on. It's been a great place to work. I learned new skills there, met wonderful people, and did some things that I'm very proud of. I wish everyone there the best, especially the professional services team that I am leaving.

As this leaves a hole to fill at Zend, they're already actively looking for others to come work there (see this post from John Coggeshall for more information on that).

Community News:
Zend Framework Project Lead's Leave of Absence
Aug 03, 2006 @ 11:07:34

On somewhat of a more personal note to the PHP community, one of the key leaders in the development of the Zend Framework, Jayson Maynard has come upon a bit of hard times. As a result, he's not devoting as much time to the development of the project as he wishes he could. Thankfully, there's a more than able group to pick up things in his absence.

As Andi Gutmans sent to the Framework's mailing list:

The rest of the Zend Framework team (Darby, Gavin and others) will continue to move forward and review proposals, and will also soon publish a plan for 1.0 for the community to review and provide feedback on, and find owners for pieces for which we'd be seeking community contributions.

There's been some very good progress in the past few days on finalizing and accepting proposals and some new contributions coming in. We will make sure to ramp up as the roadmap gets clarified so that we're all working towards the same goal!

Our condolences go out to Jayson and best wishes on a speedy recovery time. It's good to hear that the team he's headed up will be able to carry on with the work he's set forth.

If you'd like to leave a note - appreciation, well-wishes, etc - for Jayson on this posting, those comments will be passed along as soon as possible.
