New York PHP Meeting - July 27th @ 6pm (Nate Abele & Hans Zaunere on PHP 5.3)
July 26, 2010 @ 10:54:10

If you're going to be in the New York area tomorrow (July 27th) and want to get in on the latest in PHP 5.3, the New York PHP User Group is having their monthly meeting for July featuring Hans Zaunere and Nate Abele talking about all that PHP 5.3 has to offer.

What do you get when you mix namespaces, late static binding and closures? PHP 5.3 and NYPHP's July meeting, of course. Lithium co-founder Nate Abele and NYPHP Managing Member Hans Zaunere will start by giving an overview of these key concepts, followed by a review of how they're being utilized in the real-world, and finishing with an open Q&A discussion of these new hotter-than-July language features.

The meeting will start at 6:30pm tomorrow (July 27th) at the IBM offices on Madison Ave. You'll need to RSVP if you're going to attend. The meeting will be followed by a post-meeting event at TGI Fridays at Lexington and 5th. For full details on the meeting, check out http://www.nyphp.org/PHP-Presentations/175_PHP-53-Feature-Review-Discussion">this page on the NYPHP site.

August 05, 2009 @ 07:55:39

Matt Curry has posted an interview (part one) he did with Nate Abele, lead developer of the CakePHP framework.

Yeah, yeah, I know. This has been done before. What can I say - I had questions, Nate had answers. This is part one and covers general Cake and Cake3 questions. Look for part two tomorrow, which has a bunch of random questions.

The questions cover topics like the confusion in CakePHP branches, active contributors, changes in return values and certain features (like unit testing integration and the filtering system).

Debuggable Blog:
Cake 3 interview with Nate Abele
July 22, 2009 @ 11:44:19

The Debuggable blog has posted an interview with Nate Abele (of the CakePHP project) they were able to do at this year's CakeFest in Berlin.

Since there is still little public information about CakePHP 2.0 and especially the all-new 3.0, I decided to do a little interview with Nate Abele, lead developer of CakePHP.

They talk about what's coming up in CakePHP 3.0, the upgrades being done to CakePHP 2.0, the use of non-relational data storage and a possible time for release for the CakePHP 3.0 branch.
