PHP 7.1.0 Beta 2 Released

As was announced on the main PHP.net site - the latest beta version of PHP 7.1.0 has been released with several bugfixes: PHP 7.1.0 beta 2.

The PHP development team announces the immediate availability of PHP 7.1.0 Beta 2. This release is the second beta for 7.1.0. All users of PHP are encouraged to test this version carefully, and report any bugs and incompatibilities in the bug tracking system.

THIS IS A DEVELOPMENT PREVIEW - DO NOT USE IT IN PRODUCTION! For more information on the new features and other changes, you can read the NEWS file, or the UPGRADING file for a complete list of upgrading notes. These files can also be found in the release archive.

As with other preview released, you can download them from the beta location (for source) or the Windows QA site for the Windows binaries. You can see what all changed and was fixed in this new beta in the NEWS file. The plan is to release the beta 3 version on August 18th.

New "remi-php70" repository

Remi has announced the release of the remi-php7 repo, available for Fedora ≥ 21 and Enterprise Linux ≥ 6.

Current version is PHP 7.0.0beta2 with about 25 extensions which are already compatible. This repository provides development versions which are not suitable for production usage. [...] As for other remi's repositories, it is disabled by default, so the update is an administrator choice.

This repository can be installed just like other similar remi repos via the "yum" command to add the repository to the list of available ones, then another to upgrade the PHP installation.

As is mentioned in this new post by Paul Jones the Solar framework project has reached its "beta" status on December 18th, 2009 and has just hit another milestone - beta2.

Along with the release comes updates to the manual including a new blog tutorial that walks you through the creation of a simple blog that shows you how create the basic application structure, add actions/views for the CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) of articles and work with local strings.

The symfony project has announced the release of their latest version - 1.0.0 beta 2:

symfony 1.0.0 beta2 is completely compatible with beta1, so you don't need to launch the upgrade task if your project is already running on beta1.

Updates included with this release include:

  • Better compatibility with PHP 5.0.X
  • PEAR dependency has been removed
  • New COPYRIGHT file and licenses/ directory
  • Phing is now bundled with symfony
